summer update

So wow... it's been almost 6 months since I've posted anything!  We had a busy Spring as usual, filled with baseball (Ryan on 2 teams & Cade on 1), planting flowers, & building a garden.

Our summer has been so fun this year; we've especially enjoyed a long break from baseball, & a trip to the beach.  It was the first time my boys have ever been, and predictably, they LOVED it. Everyone was sad when it was time to come home.

(Brian would like me to point out that the spot is something on my lens, not on his face!)

In other news, Brian FINALLY got THE job we've been waiting for - for about 4 years.  The one we have prayed for, begged & pleaded with God for, and held out hope for, for so long.  And how it finally came about was in a way that I never would have expected, but finally, here it is.  Having him gone every (week) day has been an adjustment, but we would never go back!  We are so thankful!

We've also had some unexpected news for Cade & for myself.  Cade's therapist suspects that he may have a very mild cerebral palsy, which would explain a lot of his issues.  We have an appointment with a pediatric neurologist in September to either confirm this, or not.

I was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma and had surgery to have it removed this past week.  I was very surprised, and would not even have gone to the doctor had Brian not continued to insist, and if I hadn't blistered my back (yes, I know) at the beach and caused the place to get really irritated.  You never know!  If you have a strange or changing spot, even if it doesn't look that bad, you really need to get it checked out.

Now we're heading toward the end of summer (though not the hot weather!), and we're looking to Fall already.

• Baseball is starting back up.  Ryan is playing on a travel ball team, and both boys will play fall ball with the recreation department.  That league starts the end of this month.  
• I have finished purchasing our curriculum for school this year, and I think this will be the best year yet!  We'll be starting school on August 29th.  The boys are excited, but Mama's not ready yet!
• Cade continues to go to therapy twice a week, and is really making huge progress, which makes me so happy!
