June, in lots of pictures {and a few words}

I can't believe it's July 1st!

June this year was all about baseball. Lots and lots of baseball! We had end 0f season parties for both boys' teams. We also had practice E.V.E.R.Y. day - unless there was a game.

Our boys played in their District tournament, and won 3rd place - which secured their place in the State tournament.
{As an aside, we've caught a lot of flack for our level of involvement in ball, the whole "there's more to life than winning" thing, and all of that. And, we agree that there is more to life than winning. But these boys are 12 of THE BEST in the whole STATE OF GEORGIA. To be 7 years old and make it to this level of competition is remarkable, and I don't know why we shouldn't be proud of that. In our county alone, there were 221 players in the league. If there were that many players in just OUR county, think about how many played PeeWee statewide. So, Ryan made it - one of 36 that are playing All Stars. That's awesome! It really is quite an accomplishment, and speaks to the dedication of these boys AND the parents. Rant over!}

{not Ryan, but I love this picture}

In our last game, we were down 10-5 when we came up for our last at-bat. We all pretty much knew we'd lost. But they rallied and ended up winning 11-10, and now we're going to Albany this weekend for the State tournament. And that will be it for the season. As much as we love baseball, I'm glad it's going to be over for a little while!

We've also done lots of
swimming & hanging out with friends, a quick trip to the lake, and celebrated Father's Day. Cade lost his 1st tooth{and is about to lose the 2nd}. We've eaten lots of slushies in the afternoons & read lots of books & played outside & made plans for a short but sweet trip to the beach at the end of July. {Can't wait for that!}

{Cade lovin' him some ice cream}

{sweet girl Carley got to go to the lake, too}

Now I'm packing, getting ready to go to the tournament this weekend. Looking forward to some more baseball this weekend!

God smile on you and gift you,
God look you full in the face
and make you prosper."

Congrats to your son and his team! Making the All-Star team is a big deal, and he should be so proud.

I played softball, soccer, AND basketball when I was younger. I played in competitive leagues for softball and soccer (and played soccer in high school) and remember how devoted my parents were to all the practices, traveling to tournaments, etc. I look back on those memories fondly now that I'm an adult, and hope my son will find something he enjoys that much when he gets a bit older.

Hope you have a great 4th of July weekend!
